Is it Cake or is it Icing?
When I first started my business in 1989, someone commented that Voice Dynamic was like the icing on the cake. I begged to differ! I explained that the speaking voice is actually the cake, the foundation. Everything else is the icing. Just as I didn't teach my 2-year-old to shoot the puck until he could successfully stand up on his skates, I often question why people take courses in presentation skills or public speaking without first training the voice. If you speak too softly, speak in a monotone, sound like a child (and you are over 21), sound hoarse, sound wimpy, run out of breath or voice, cannot control your nervousness, or have a voice that quivers or shakes, courses in presentation skills or public speaking will not solve those problems. You must start with the foundation. Learn to breathe and find your optimum voice and those problems will disappear. So make the cake first and then ice it!

Greetings!
Many people look to the New Year to make change. If your plans for 2007 involve self-improvement, why not make the sound of your speaking voice your first priority?

| Nick's Voice Commanding Respect |
|
Many of you will recognize Nick Vitalbo, one of Voice Dynamic's 'before' & 'after' video clients. Nick works for Lockheed Martin and emailed me last week with the following message. "A few weeks ago I had to give a presentation to one of our customers. After the presentation one of the gentlemen caught me in the hallway and came up to me to say that he really liked the way that I presented. He said that when I spoke, not only did I know what I was talking about, but he enjoyed the way I spoke, the tone in my voice commanded respect. So...thanks for your help!"
