Greetings!

What a wonderful thing is the internet.  To think that we are in a position to share so much, so easily and so quickly.  I am delighted that I can share with you the wonderful change in Katie and the difference it has made in her life, both professionally and personally.  Just the fact that it hurts for her to go back to her 'old' voice!   Yes!  Yes!  Yes!

Indeed, many people find that once they learn to breathe with the support of the diaphragm, speak at their optimum pitch, and allow their chest to power their new sound, it actually hurts to go back to the 'old' voice.    While I can't tell you exactly how long it takes to make the 'new' voice a habit, I can tell you that in Katie's situation, she will never go back.  In that sense, it probably took her  2 weeks to make the 'new' voice a habit.  As she worked at speaking in her lower, warmer voice, she began to discover that it didn't feel good talking in her former voice.  It bothered her throat.  Her inner ear also told her the same thing.    Allowing your chest to be your major sounding board results in a very relaxed voice.  I can't tell you how many people have told me that it is easier speaking when their chest is doing most of the work instead of their throat, their mouth, and/or their nose.
